Why Should I Take My Car to a Mechanic for an Oil Change?
One of the things we do most often here at Neighborhood Auto Care is oil changes. There are a few reasons for that, but one of the biggest reasons is that an oil change is a great way for us to not only keep your vehicle up to date on its regular maintenance but also to inspect a few things that can help keep you safe on the road. These inspections are more than just looking at the color of your air filter like you might get at a quick-lube type shop and we believe they make our oil changes a great value and an essential part of keeping your vehicle safe to drive.
Things We Inspect During an Oil Change:
Oil level and condition before and after the change
Other fluids including coolant, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and washer fluid
The condition of your brake fluid, pads, rotors, and brake lines
The cleanliness and cranking amps of your battery
The condition of any engine drive belts
Your suspension components like ball joints and bushings for play
Shock absorbers for leakage and other damage
Tires for uneven tread wear and proper pressure
Wheel bearings for play and noise
The condition of filters like your engine and cabin air filter
Drive shafts and axles for play or worn joints
All components for external leakage
Our oil changes come with the benefit of all these inspections but they also come with the added benefit of being done by ASE certified mechanics. That means when we’re checking these components on your vehicle we have the right training and experience to spot problems before they cause breakdowns and leave you stranded. Something like a crack in a brake line could easily be missed by the untrained eye, but replacing it before it starts to leak could very well save you from an accident because your brakes suddenly fail.
We Only Choose Quality Parts
Another thing to consider when you are choosing where to get your oil changed is the quality of oil and filters that are being used. Lower grade oil and substandard filters can lead to increased engine wear and increase the chances of future oil leaks. At neighborhood Auto Care, the lowest grade oil we offer is our high-quality synthetic blend oil with a great additive package. We also offer full synthetic motor oils in many name brands if you want to give your car the best! The only filters we use are manufactured to the same quality and standards as the filter your car gets at the dealership and will keep your oil clean until your next oil change.
We Take Appointments!
Many places don’t take appointments for oil changes which leave you waiting around until they can get to your vehicle. If you drop in at Neighborhood auto care we will get you taken care of as soon as possible but we would rather make an appointment a few days ahead of time for you so we can get you in and out as quickly as possible! Our oil changes take 30-45 minutes if you take us up on our offer for a free tire rotation so we can get you back on the road and to all of life’s adventures knowing your vehicle is safe to drive for the next 5000 miles!
